José Cusí, the most renowned Spanish boat owner and leader of the Bribón campaign for almost 40 years, has been elected October´s ‘Sailor of the Month’ by Seahorse magazine, an announcement that has been celebrated by the world´s sailing community.

The prestigious sailing magazine Seahorse has announced that José Cusí, owner of the historic Spanish Bribón campaign for nearly 40 years, is the winner of the October ‘Sailor of the Month’ award. The Spanish boat ended its competition days last September in the 2011 Audi MedCup Circuit with a praiseworthy second place.

The announcement has triggered numerous positive reactions in the sailing world. New Zealand´s Dean Barker, former Bribón Skipper and winner of the Audi MedCup Circuit in 2009 and 2010 has defined Cusí as a “fantastic man’. Fellow countrymen such as Nacho Postigo, Technical Director of the Audi MedCup Circuit, or Iker Martínez have also congratulated the Spanish owner, who has expressed his will to sail in smaller boats in the future. While Postigo has pointed out that “Spanish sailing owes Cusí a lot”, Martínez has said that he´s happy with such good news because “after 40 years at the top, José deserves this award”.
