Portugal Trophy, Cascais Portugal - May 11 / 16 2010
Only 15 or 20 minutes from the centre of Lisbon, Cascais is a vibrant, colourful town which embraces a very strong heritage of competitive sailing, from Olympic classes to Match Race regattas and Sportsboat championship racing.

A great, very accessible race area where the reputation for stronger breezes seems to be reinforced regularly is backed up by good shoreside amenities.

Open to the Atlantic, the rolling swells should provide surfing conditions, and potentially exciting action. The infrastructure is well set up for major events, including the legacy of hosting the 2007 ISAF World Sailing Championships.

Cascais is a cosmopolitan suburb, 30 kilometres west of the Portuguese capital city with a population of about 35,000 residents and is one of richest municipalities in Portugal. The former fishing village gained fame as a resort for Portugal's royal family in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Nowadays it is a popular holiday spot for both Portuguese and overseas tourists.
